Rinko Kawauchi’s works address the familiar mysteries of life, nature, people, their environs and relations, which at times open doors to the magnificent. Throughout her career of over 20 years, she has continuously presented fragments of the world. Captured from her unique perspective, details and scenes of the everyday reveal a sense of profound beauty. The photographs, which sometimes resemble abstract paintings, arouse our memories and produce permanently residual images. What has she found on her new journey as a mother? What revelations have the conversations with people she respects offered? What are the things she has valued and protected throughout her oeuvre? The current volume seeks to explore all that lies at the end of Rinko Kawauchi’s steadfast gaze.
