PROFILE
1972 –
滋賀県生まれ。『うたたね』『花火』（2002年、リトルモア刊） の2冊で第27回木村伊兵衛写真賞を受賞。著作は他に『AILA』（2004年、フォイル刊）、『the eyes,the ears,』『Cui Cui』（共に2005年、フォイル刊）などがある。2011年に『Illuminance』を世界5カ国で同時出版（日本版はフォイル刊）、2013年に写真集『あめつち』をApertureほか世界4カ国で刊行（日本は青幻舎）。2009年にICP（International Center of Photography）主催の第25回インフィニティアワード芸術部門受賞、2013年に平成24年度（第63回）芸術選奨文部科学新人賞、第29回写真の町東川賞国内作家賞を受賞。主な個展は、「AILA + Cui Cui + the eyes, the ears」（2005年、カルティエ財団美術館／パリ）、「”Rinko Kawauchi” The Photographers’ Gallery」（2006年、ロンドン）、「AILA + the eyes, the ears」（2007年、ハッセルブラッド・センター／イエテボリ、スウェーデン）、「Semear」（2007年、サンパウロ近代美術館／サンパウロ）、「Cui Cui」（2008年、ヴァンジ彫刻庭園美術館／静岡）、「照度 あめつち 影を見る」（2012年、東京都写真美術館）、「Rinko Kawauchi – Illuminance」（2015年、KUNST HAUS WIEN GmbH／ウィーン）ほか多数。2016年に熊本市現代美術館で個展「川が私を受け入れてくれた」を開催。2017年6月に新作写真集『Halo』をApetureほか2カ国で出版（日本語版はHeHe）。
