PROFILE
1899 – 1968
ウクライナ生まれ。本名アッシャー・フェリグ。1910年にニューヨークに渡り、写真スタジオ、大手通信社勤務を経て、事件を追うフリーランス写真家となる。以降、大手新聞や雑誌を中心に殺人現場、火事、ギャング、ホームレスなどセンセーショナルかつユーモアとヒューマニティあふれる写真で人気を博す。45年に写真集『Naked City 』を刊行。1968年没。2002年、ニューヨークICPで大回顧展を開催。
